Roarik Engineering Limited ("Roarik”, “the Company", “we”) is committed to conducting all its engineering operations in a manner that protects the natural environment, prevents pollution, and minimizes ecological impact. We recognize that responsible environmental stewardship is not only a legal obligation but a fundamental component of sustainable business practice and corporate responsibility.
1. Policy Statement
The Company pledges to:
- Comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, standards and permits in every jurisdiction in which we operate, including Nigerian Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) requirements and ISO 14001 environmental management principles.
- Continuously reduce our environmental footprint through the adoption of best available techniques, cleaner technologies, and resource-efficient practices.
- Integrate environmental considerations into project planning, design, procurement, construction, operations, and decommissioning activities.
- Engage openly with regulatory bodies, local communities, and other stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Hold all employees, contractors, and business partners accountable to the standards set out in this Policy.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to:
- All permanent and temporary employees of Roarik Engineering Limited.
- Contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers working on Company premises or on behalf of the Company.
- All project sites, office locations, warehouses, yards, and any other facilities owned, leased, or managed by the Company.
- All engineering disciplines and service lines delivered by the Company, including but not limited to civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and structural engineering.
3. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
The Company will at all times maintain full compliance with applicable environmental legislation. Key regulatory frameworks include, but are not limited to:
- National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) Act, 2007 and associated sector regulations.
- Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) Act and subsidiary legislation.
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act, Cap E12, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
- Oil Pipelines Act and associated petroleum industry environmental guidelines (where applicable).
- State-level environmental protection laws and local planning/development control regulations.
- International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines (for internationally financed projects).
The HSE Manager is responsible for maintaining a current register of applicable environmental legislation and permits. Any changes in legislation that may affect Company operations will be communicated to relevant personnel within 30 days of coming into effect.
4. Environmental Management System (EMS)
Roarik Engineering Limited has a well established Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.
The EMS includes:
- Identification and regular review of environmental aspects and impacts associated with Company activities, products, and services.
- Setting and monitoring environmental objectives and targets at corporate and project levels.
- Documented environmental procedures, work instructions, and emergency response plans for significant environmental risks.
- Competency assessment and training programs for personnel with environmental responsibilities.
- Internal environmental audit program conducted at least once per year, with findings reported to senior management.
- Management review meetings held at least annually to assess EMS performance and drive continual improvement.
