1. Our Commitment To Health and Safety

At ROARIK ENGINEERING LIMITED (“ROARIK”, the “COMPANY”, “WE”, “US”, “OUR”) we are fully committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well being of all persons affected by our operations. We recognize that our activities in engineering, construction, project management, steel fabrication, industrial cleaning, and related services present inherent risks. We are committed to minimizing these risks to as low as reasonably practicable. We adopt a zero-harm philosophy and do not tolerate unsafe acts or unsafe conditions. Every incident is preventable, and safety is a core value embedded in all our operations.

2. What Our Health and Safety Policy is About

This Health and Safety Policy (the “POLICY”) outlines our commitment to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, casualties, and fatalities. We aim to protect our employees, contractors, clients, and the public, as well as ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry standards. This Policy establishes a framework for managing health and safety risks across all operations and projects of the Company.

The Company recognizes that risks may arise from:

2.1 Unintentional Acts

These may result from lack of due diligence or human negligence. These acts include poor supervision or inadequate planning, lack of training or competence, equipment failure or improper use, or failure to follow procedures, thereby resulting in accidents, injuries, or property damage.

2.2 Deliberate or Negligent Acts

These are deliberate acts taken by people with intent to cause harm or damage. These acts include willful violation of safety procedures, reckless behaviour or misconduct, or substance abuse on duty. Such actions are strictly prohibited and subject to disciplinary measures.

3. The Purpose of the Policy

The purpose of this Policy is to:

  • Establish a clear health and safety framework for all our operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the Company.
  • Define responsibilities for health and safety management.
  • Provide guidelines for hazard identification and risk control.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in safety performance.

4. The Scope of the Policy

This Policy applies to all employees of the Company, including permanent, temporary, and contract staff. The Policy also applies to contractors, subcontractors, consultants, visitors to the company premises and project sites as well as all company-controlled workplaces and operations.

5. Key Definitions

In this Policy, the following words and expressions, unless the context otherwise requires, have the following meanings assigned to them:

  • Employee means anyone who works for the Company, either in a paid or unpaid, full or part-time or consulting capacity.
  • Hazard means anything with the potential to cause harm e.g. machinery, chemicals, working at height.
  • Incident means an unplanned event which results in or could have resulted in injury, illness, or damage.
  • Near miss means an event that did not result in injury or damage but had the potential to do so.
  • Personnel all individuals working for or on behalf of the Company. This includes employees, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, interns, and any other persons under the Company’s supervision or control. Where applicable, it also includes visitors or third parties present at the Company’s workplaces or project sites.
  • Risk means the likelihood that a hazard will cause harm and the severity of that harm.

6. Guiding Principles

Our approach to health and safety is based on the following principles:

6.1 Safety First

No task, deadline, or commercial objective is more important than the health and safety of people. All work must be properly planned and executed in a manner that prioritizes safety at all times. Where a conflict arises between safety and operational demands, safety must take precedence. Employees are empowered to stop any activity they consider unsafe without fear of reprisal.

6.2 Zero Harm

The Company is committed to a zero-harm philosophy, which means that all injuries, occupational illnesses, and incidents are considered preventable. We strive to eliminate hazards and reduce risks to the lowest practicable level, recognizing that achieving zero harm requires constant vigilance, discipline, and commitment from all personnel.

6.3 Prevention over Reaction

We adopt a proactive approach to health and safety by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing control measures before incidents occur. This includes proper planning, risk assessments, method statements, regular inspections, and continuous monitoring of work activities. Preventing incidents is more effective and responsible than reacting after they occur.

6.4 Shared Responsibility

At Roarik, we believe that health and safety is a collective responsibility. Every employee, contractor, and stakeholder has a duty to work safely, follow established procedures, and look out for the safety of others. A strong safety culture depends on active participation and accountability at all levels.

We are committed to complying with all health and safety laws and regulations, including the Factories Act 2004, the Employee Compensation Act 2010, the National Policy on Occupational Safety and Health 2020 and any other law or regulation which may hereafter become operative. In addition, we adopt recognized best practices to ensure that our operations meet or exceed minimum legal requirements. Compliance is the foundation of our health and safety management system.

6.6 Continuous Improvement
